It is part of our daily experience to enter a store, find what we need, queue at the checkout, pay, and go. In this process, the amount of time we spend at the checkout can become quite remarkable and frustrating.
With PayTrack, we aim at changing this process by introducing smart innovation to improve the whole process. PayTrack is a smart-phone enabled solution which drastically speeds up the checkout-phase in supermarkets, groceries, stores, and, in any other shop where long queues are common. As of today, the main “bottleneck” of the payment process lies in the fact that a cashier is required to scan each-and-every item in our shopping carts. While this conventional approach prevents, or at least reduces, the risk of shoplifting, it leads to a significant waste of time and resources for both customers and shop businesses. To avoid this no-win situation, we envision a system which allows customers to autonomously scan items with their personal mobile-phones, immediately while placing them into the shopping cart. As the only operation left for the customer is to pay the due amount, no queue will be awaiting the customer – who can simply pay and go – nor will shop-assistants need to hold on at the checkout.
Additionally, whereas the conventional shopping approach requires customers
to collect and handle paper receipts, PayTrack improves also this phase by enabling paperless invoicing, whereby receipts are automatically delivered to customers in a digital form, for a better and greener environment.
